SFU Rocket Science is once again offering the extraordinary Robotics Academy, an immersive educational experience designed to ignite young minds with the wonders of engineering, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Aimed at children aged 9 to 12, this dynamic event focuses on fostering creativity and innovation through the exciting realm of robotics. In collaboration with SFU Rocketry, the academy adopts a captivating aerospace theme, fueling imaginations and propelling participants into a world of limitless possibilities.
During this 2-day, 12-hour program, budding engineers embark on a hands-on journey, engaging in a series of interactive activities to nurture their technical creative prowess. Participants will have the opportunity to learn all about how you go from an idea to a creation, using fundamental engineering practices. During this process, they will build and program real robots using VEX Robotics components - an extremely popular high-school competition platform.
Under the guidance of experienced instructors and mentors, young engineers will explore the principles of engineering design, robotics, physics, coding, and working with hand tools. They will gain valuable insights into problem-solving strategies, critical thinking, and teamwork as they collaborate with their peers to overcome challenges and achieve objectives. Along the way, they will also have the chance to interact with university aerospace design team members and executives, such as those from the nationally recognized SFU Rocketry.
The Robotics Academy aims to spark a lifelong passion for engineering and provide a solid foundation for future exploration in the field. We aspire to empower young minds, fostering the skills necessary for success in an increasingly technology-driven world. Join us on this thrilling adventure and let your child's imagination soar to new heights!
